The Big Issue Magazine

Through CARA PR, I’ve led executive teams in The Big Issue's unique volunteering program—spending half a day selling magazines alongside people experiencing homelessness. It’s a powerful, humanising experience that shifts perspectives and fosters real empathy.

The Big Issue has helped over 7,000 vendors earn a dignified income, with more than $35 million going directly into their pockets since 1996. This program reminds us that leadership isn't just about strategy—it's about connection, compassion, and walking beside those doing it tough.

Fighting for Change: Closing Child Support Loopholes

At CARA PR, we’re actively lobbying the government to close the legal loopholes that allow parents to dodge child support—hiding income through businesses or assets while single parents are left to struggle alone.

These gaps in the system, often overlooked by Services Australia, enable ongoing financial abuse and keep families in hardship. We're calling for transparency, accountability, and a system that truly protects children and supports the parents doing it tough.

Because justice shouldn't be optional—it should be built in.

Love Without Limits: Neuro-Inclusive Dating Events

Speaking for the Voiceless: Reforming the Companion Animals Act

CARA PR is advocating for urgent reform of the Companion Animals Act to put an end to the convenience killings of cats and dogs by State Animal Management authorities, including council rangers.

Too often, beloved pets are seized and euthanised over minor incidents—with little transparency, oversight, or opportunity for mediation. We're pushing for legislation that prioritises animal welfare, owner rights, and humane, evidence-based approaches to incident management.

It’s time for a system that reflects community values and treats companion animals with the dignity they deserve.
